First off Congrats on being Prego... :) I am 22 weeks my self and just had my ultrasound. I was also a smoker... I started to quit when I found out I was prego. I cut back and after about a week just completely quit. It is not good to quit cold turkey because the baby will go through withdrawls, but my Dr told me cutting down and quitting gradually was the best thing. Cigarette smoking all through pregnancy can cause all sorts of problems, low birth weight, under developed lungs, etc... As far as the ultrasound goes, they don't usually give you one until you are at least 19 weeks unless you are having symptoms of a tubal pregnancy or other complications. I didn't get morning sickness to much at all, I was just really tired! I would sleep all day if someone would let me. Every woman is different and you may not feel anything at all until you are in your 4th month. Just eat right, exercise (walking is GREAT), and if you get headaches with vision changes, start bleeding, or get faint make sure to call your Dr ASAP. Good Luck...
www.babyzone.com and www.babycenter.com are great resources.
I saw a comment ahead of mine saying your baby can't have withdrawls. That is NOT true. Although it doesn't look like it yet you have a little person inside you and everything you do, it does. So if you quit cold turkey, your baby quits cold turkey. YOU may get cranky for a couple days, but your baby is much more underdeveloped! Cold turkey can cause a miscarriage! Quitting gradually is the best way to go. It is not good for your baby to smoke, but you don't wanna shock him/her either! Good Luck

11 weeks is still early so I wouldn't be concerned about not showing yet. Many women don't begin to show until they are 5 months or more. It's only natural that you worry about the baby and you will probably worry up until the day you have it. I don't know a mother who hasn't. But I really don't understand why your dr. would tell you not to quit smoking! I'd assume your baby would have a greater chance of something being wrong by you still smoking! But I could be wrong..Best Wishes to you and your baby!

The baby is going to go through withdrawal either now if you quit or later when it's born. Your doc is wacked telling you not to quit. Go to a new doc
Do you mean if you should be feeling the baby move? No you won't until 18-20 weeks and it's normal to have an upset stomach during pg.

At 11 weeks you might feel a little fluttering from time to time. You should try to quit smoking if you can--I am not going to bash you for it though, I know it's a tough habit to break. Good luck with your pregnancy, I dont know of any chat rooms but I am sure they're out there and someone else will give you some links.

Ok, I think that you need to cut down and then stop for the baby's sake. most docs would not tell you that you don't need to stop. at 11 weeks sometimes you start to show ( i started about 15, but i was soooo sick so i lost weight first) no you shouldn't be feeling anything now.
Good luck!!

I am really sceptical about your Dr. telling you about the baby getting withdrawal symptoms. I am pretty sure that it is healthier for you and baby to quit now and I do not see any risk for going cold turkey. At 11 weeks my wife never got stomach aches but maybe within the next few weeks you should feel some movement within your tummy. good luck and most importantly don't worry. It's not healthy for you and baby

i find it very hard to believe a doctor would recommend you to not stop smoking, people that smoke are at risk for smaller pre term babies. you should gradualy stop for you and your babies health, Im sure your child does not want to be visiting you dying of lung cancer. but as far as the ultra sound goes diffrent insurance companies allow screenings only at certain points, if you feel the baby moving around and there is not been cramping or bleeding I would not be concerned .

just cut down \until you are down to 2-3a day and than it is safe to quit. Your body is changing with pregnancy and if you quit smoking it could harm you and your little one. I just went through this 8 months ago just stick with it and don't take any patch or gum at all during pregnancy see your doctor about a proper method and stick to it and good luck to you

Your baby is still too small to see anything. All you can see right now is just a small fetus and the heart beat. You should stop smoking and eat healthy from now on. Just be patient. There's nothing you can do right now.
