You're sitting outside Starbucks, when suddenly you see a very attractive person of the opposite sex approaching. The person waves at you, and you wave back excitedly, that is, until you notice that it wasn't you they were waving at after all, but the person sitting behind you.
The attractive person looks at you quizzically, and asks, "Do I know you?"

I would say "No, I don't think so, but when I see somebody attractive waving in my direction, I wave back 'cause they might want to know me." Smile and go back to my business.

And if they ask why I waved at them, just feign off and say "I wasn't waving - there was a fly buzzing around, I was trying to shoo it away."
