+ you might let it be air-cooled until it seizes up for a couple of min. but you can bet there is a water pump and water inlet near the prop. There should also be a "Tell Tale" small stream of water that comes out that lets you know the water pump is working properly.

water cooled as is almost all outboards they draw water from the body of water you are using them in. Only 1 or 2 types of outboards are air cooled...the mud bug style that is used a lot in Thailand and by duck hunters in the muddy shallow waters and small 2 or 3 HP boat motors that have tiny cc engines..usually more expensive than an electric and less efficient

It is possible, but I doubt that a motor that large is air-cooled. You should be able to tell by how it sounds while it is running.
