I would like to know if anyone knows of any websites with detailed info (step by step) on how to remove an engine and transmission WITH PICTURES of each step. I need to remove engines and transmissions from both Japanese and American cars. This would help me so much if anyone knew. Thanks a lot!

Is your vehicle a stick shift or automatic.? If a stick, try "rocking" the vehicle, with two or three people pushin, back and forth, front wards and backwards. It it is possible that the starter is engaged, and stuck and not turning at all. Years ago, we had starters do this, and we could rock the car enough with it in gear, to get the engine to move a little bit, and the starter would come disengaged. A single "click" when trying to start it can mean a loose battery connection, it will click once, and then not click again. But, a single solid "clunk" could mean that the starter is trying to turn, but is stuck. You got nothing to lose, if stick shift, try rocking the boat. If your starter is stuck and comes unstuck you can then proceed to find out why it got stuck. Maybe cars today don't do that, but it did years ago.

It's really not that difficult. I would recommend to get the Chilton, Michelle, Hayes books from your locale auto parts store where you have the information at your finger tips. They also have more detailed instructions then what you would find on a web site and it would be specific to the car you are working on. the books cost about 25.00 and it's only a one time pay (unless you lose the book)

First, get a good digital camera and take lots and lots of pictures of every wire, cable and vacuum hose you remove.
