The pound sign ("₤" or later more commonly in the UK "£") is the symbol for the pound sterling, the currency of the United Kingdom (UK), and for some other currencies of the same name in other countries.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pound_sign
It can usually be found on the keyboard by pressing the shift and 3. Or you might need to install the British keyboard from your Control Panel
Hope this helps:}

You say "Pounds" (as in £10 = "Ten pounds") and it's the "Pound sign"
...I guess you can't find it on your keyboard because you're in a country that uses other symbols more frequently and that's why the pound sign is a "special character" ie one you have to go and find in a table rather than having it on the keyboard.
I don't have a Yen sign on my keyboard, for example.

It's called the 'pound' sign. Foreign keyboards usually have to be changed to english and even then it's trial and error as to where to find it.

As the others have said it is called 'pound'. I have a question to ask you in return... If it isn't on your keyboard how did you type it into your question?
