Do you mix mix money with your husband/wife, or do you keep your respective moneys separate?

Well, honestly, it is just easier to have it seperate because if I need money, he just gives it to me or if he needs money, I just give it to him. It is easier to balance a checkbook that way. If you have a joint checking, it is harder to balance because you can keep all the receipts and then he forgets to log something or loses receipts. I think it is just easier that way. We have a joint checking, we just don't use it very often. It works differently with everyone really.

Mix. You need to be growing together in every way. This is the mystery, the hard work, and the risk of marriage. Now, if there are major resources involved, then you must consider the deep legal and financial issues as adults.

you should always try and keep your money as seperate as possible. You should have an account with your name alone and credit cards as well. Worse comes to worst you have money to fall back on should you need it and creditors can not freeze it. Not to meantion if he does something wrong you can deflect some of the problems that come your way. And should you have a career, it will help you to secure financing.

after trying mixing it and almost killing each other we have found seperate checking is best, beings both of us work we figured out a fair amount for her to contribute to the bills and I pay them from my account. We dont have debit cards to each others account because that can cause problums too, Her name is on my account as "pay on death" . I would suggest this way to anyone, just figure out whos best with money to handle the bills.

We generally mix our money however, there are a few things that we each pay for on our own. Ex: He always pays the cell phone bill and I always pay the electric and gas bills. Everything else is all together.

We pool our money and we both decide how it is spent. If you dont then whats the point of being married? Although we both get a certain amount that is our own and we dont have to answer to anyone about how we spend it.
