The Chicago Cubune (paper that owns the Cubs) has declared that the Chicago White Sox are the most popular baseball team in town based on polling from an independent source. The White Sox had about 300,000 less in attendance, however the Sox count people that actually attend the game, whereas the Cubs count paid attendance (even when they sell to their own scalper- they count those too).
So is it possible that the myth that the Cubs are more popular than the Chicago White Sox will go away? Or will the lemmings still believe the hype that the Cubs are the team to see in the windy city?
Oh, and if you look at attendance further out than just the last 10 years, you'll see that the Sox consistently outdrew the Cubs. Not until Steroid Sammy went to the Northside did the Flubs draw more people.

Well I can tell you, that as a Red Sox fan, that the entire country finds Cubs fans annoying. I sometimes visit Chicago on business, and White Sox games are usually really fun to go to. I went to a Cubs game once and I felt unwelcome. I'm black, and when I sat in the bleachers, everytime the white yuppies would ask me things like how does ghetto trash afford tickets. Or they would say things like "hey Wrigley doesn't serve fried chicken you know". Cubs fans are generally racist and elitist assholes like the Yanks fans.
Oh and to the Tigers fan- way to to blow it versus a crappy NL team. The Tigers just embarassed the AL, pretty much how the Cubs are an embarassment to sports in general.

No thats not true at all. The Soxs are never I repeat never, going to be anything compared to the Cubbies. Oh, and by the way to a poster above Cub fans are not annoying.
and I'll tell you something , there are more Cub fans then any other baseball team. Just check out some sites and you'll find that out in a hurry. Don't even say anything about Sosa, because look at Pujols, he is probably on steriods.
The Cubs aren't a bad team, and I think a lot of people will see that in 07. Hopefully Aramis will resign tomorrow.

Well think about it the White Sox brought the first World Series title to Chicago in 87 years and for the most part they are still a contender for next season. As for the Cubs, well there still the Cubs which means another year without a championship. In short people love a winner and the White Sox were able to provide that.

Its quite possible that since the Whites won a Series finally they might be more popular for the moment. But as fans are that could change with the wind.
The Cubbies seem to be the heart picks of the city only because of the Billy Goat. Wrigley is still the place to go just like Lou Malnati's Pizza is the best of the city.
