of course, there are viruses for mobile phones and some of them are really nasty ones. and luckily there are antivirses and firewalls too for mobile phones too like from norton, mccafee etc. i myself got the norton antivirus for mobile installed on my nokia mobile after i had to format my cellphone after a virus attack.
justcheck it with the nokia service centre or any store dealing with softwares in your vicinity, though it will cost you a bit. and yup there are some datasafe softwares too for mobile which will help you save ur data in ur mobile phone like ur contact details, sms messages, etc.

I beg to differ with the previous answer. There are a handful of Viruses around that could infect a handheld/mobile device. All viruses exploit vulnerabilities in applications or operation systems(OS), as the applications and OS used by handheld devices are not standard and there are many the possibility of a Virus engineered attack such a system is 'probably' not around yet. I will still user Mobile Internet, till such a time when the 1st Anti Virus for Mobile devices is out in the market.

It is safe but not all safe.
