I was born supposedly at Mt Sinai in April of 1970 i later found out i was adopted and am having trouble obtaining my birth record. The certificate i have has allready been amended.

30 years is not very old for a hospital. (Rim shot!)

On the more serious side - Ask them at Mt Sinai. Failing that - check with the State Attorney General's office. They might offer helpfull suggestions.

I've gotten my birth certificate for immigration purposes, etc. at the Hall of Records in the State I was born in. You can google and find the address of that government agency. Good Luck

The hospital keep all records. so don't worry just look for it in the right hospital of course...
