It could be an ear infection. Sucking creates pressure in the ears that is extremely painful when they're infected. Take him to the doctor and let them have a look.

Teething is the first answer to come to mind. Another thing it could be is an ear infection. Colic is a possibility but that usually starts younger than 4 months. Try letting him chew a cold teething ring or a damp washcloth and see if that eases his gums. If all else fails, see his pedi.

Check his hands and feet to make sure that he doesn't have a rash. If he does, take him to the doctor immediately, because he has the hand, foot and mouth disease (there's a technical name for it but I can't remember what it is) My daughter got it when she was four months old and it gives them a rash on their hands and feet and blisters in their throat... which would explain why he won't eat... my daughter cried for 3 days straight and refused to eat anything except cold pedialyte and her medicine, she was miserable. At that age they're also in between growth spurts so the amount that he was eating before may be too much for him now and could be causing tummy aches, in that case try Little tummies, or lay him tummy down on your knees and rub his back, then lay him on his back and lift his legs a couple of times. that also helps to eaze tummy pains.

Sometimes babies just cry. No reason. Thats their only way of comunicating. If he/she is pulling or tugging near their ear it could be an ear infection. Or teething if thats the case I recommend ORAGEL (not spelt right) but you get what I'm saying . All else fails go for a car ride that usually knocks them right out.

Your baby could have alot of gas, or your baby could be allergic to its formula. Check with your doctor and see if he thinks changing the baby's formula will help.
