I have ten days left before my due date and my doctor checked my cervix today and said that I was "maybe" a fingertip dilated. Does this mean that I probably wont go into labor naturally and that I will have to be induced?

Not necessarily. You're starting to dilate on your own but so far less then 1 cm. You can do squats to help you dilate more and go into labor on your own. Hold the squat then push. Good luck.

Don't worry some woman begin to dilate earlier then the baby is completely ready to come. I am 37 weeks and 5 days and already down a centimeter. I was almost two centimeters down with my last daughter for five weeks, and went into natural labor nine days late. Your body is just a little more ready then your baby, everything should work out perfectly though. Congrats on the baby, hope I could ease your mind a little.

It is hard to tell, no one can tell you yes or no. Every pregnancy is different. With my second baby, I was dilated to 3/4 cm for three weeks, then I had to be induced two weeks after my due date. Good luck! DO A LOT OF WALKING!!!!!!!! That might help you dilated more!

It doesn't mean that at all. The best thing for you to do is start walking. I would walk a mile a day my last weeks of pregnancy, even though it wore me out. But I bet by your next check up, you could be 3 centimeters dialated. With my third baby, I did alot of walking, and in one week, I dialated 4 centimeters. My labor only lasted 4 hours too! It's tough, but there is a huge pay-off.

it just means you are starting to dilate, it could be a week or a month don't worry this is normal. with all the advice you are given keep in mind do not start any new activities during your pregnancy. You do not want to start labor before the baby is ready as you want his lungs to be fully developed

it is possible that you may have to be induced. i am probably going to have to be induced next weekend because i am about 39 weeks pregnant and have not dilated any but i am 50 % effaced which is good. and since my baby is about 8 lbs already and i have a small build my doctor doesn't want to give the baby much time to get any bigger because he wants me to be able to push him out. i think one good thing about being induced is that you will know the exact date your baby will be born so that you will have time to tell family and friends.

My sister in law was dilated to four for 3 weeks. You still have 10 days to go, so either one could happen!
