Same way it did the rest of the world, that is why it was great it effected the whole world. It also allowed Hitler to come to power in Germany which had to be the biggest problem in Europe.

How did the great depression effect Europe? Even worse and longer than in the US. It brought about the rise of Nazi Germany.

We were helping them pay off war debts from WWI and when we ran out of money we couldn't help them anymore.
