Hot water is best for men and women. It's supposed to open up the hair folicles, prevent razor burn, and give a closer shave.

Warm water because it ensures shaving comfort and opens the pores for an easier shave. Hot water can strip your skin of its natural oil; thus, making your skin dry and harder to get a good shave, but will open the pores. Cold water will close the pores. Below is a source link; it's an article on the art of a perfect shave.

Warm, you need it to open up the pores, if you use hot water and then a cream for shaving/hair removel with chemicals you will most likely get side effects like red/itchy skin and sometimes little hive-like things.

Warm. Sit in the water and let it soften the hairs and then shave.
