The english and scottish poppies are made by different charities -so I think they would like them to look slightly different - but both with the same aim of remembering servicemen who died in combat. The scottish poppy has ridged, fluted petals and comes on a silver pin which goes directly into clothing - the english one pops onto a green plastic stalk which has to go onto your clothing with a separate pin.

Another silly trivial fact - does anyone remember that poppies used to be twice the size they are now, in the seventies? (about four inches long) They didn't have a green leaf, though!
