Okay I have been on a TON of antibiotics since September such as painkillers, etc due to a car accident..anyway, the past few days I have been so itchy and have had white discharge a lot thicker than normal..it also smells gross. If I buy Monistat and use it, can it possibly get worse?? I jsut went to the gyno last week for an annual and dont want to go back so soon. Is this a yeast infection? Help?

Sounds like it. I'd buy some monistat cream today (to stop the itchin), and make an appointment with your doctor asap (if they are good, they'll see you today or tomorrow). She can prescribe diflucan, which is just one little pill, you take it once and the yeast infection is gone in a few days. It's easier than the over-the-counter stuff.

Yeast infections can be caused by antibiotics, but there are other things that appear just like yeast infections but have very different treatments (such as bacterial vaginosis). My money's on the yeast infection, but you should really go to the doctor to be sure.

Although antibiotics are good in that they cure you of one thing, they can also really mess up your body. It's because they're meant to kill of bacterial infections, but they end up killing ALL bacteria in your system, even the "good" bacteria that make your stomach stable, as well as the good bacteria in your vagina that keep things clean. Since the good bacteria was killed off, it leaves you prone to things like yeast infections (diarreah is also common if you're taking antibiotics, since the good bacteria in the stomach and intestines are killed off).

What you have does sound like a yeast infection, but only your doctor can confirm that. If it's the first time you're having one you really should see a doctor.
If not, I'm sure using monistant won't hurt, and you can also use something like Canesten cream for the outside area. It'll help relieve the itch.

Also, eat lots of Yogurt with probiotic bacteria (such as Activia), or with active bacterial cultures. You can also buy lactobacillus (sp?) at a health food store. They will help getting your insides back to normal.

it sure sounds like a yeast infection, though i do not know how it got there if you are taking antibiotics. You should use a topical cream and nothing you insert until you go to your doctor, only because you don't know what sort of reaction it will have with all the meds you are taking. Good luck!

seems like a urinary tracht illness. conventional signs! drink tons of water and feature a pitcher of cranberry juice everyday, my urologist advised me i might under no circumstances take bath baths once more ,so i'm dedicated to simply have showers. bet what? i havent had any further infections. a yeast illness could be very uncomfortable as you might have extreme vaginal itching and a white discharge. you dont typically get this except you're sexually lively. in case your symptons dont resolve you have to re-discuss with the general practitioner. mostly they positioned you on an anti-biotic that's known as extensive spectrum till they get the outcome again from the lab, then they're going to realize precisely which remedy will paintings. wish this is helping you until you notice your general practitioner.

yes I've never had one but I was just talking to one of my friends on the phone 2 days ago & she has been on antibiotics as well & she has a yeast infection also & I asked her how she knew & she told me that it itches & you will have a discharge that looks like cottagecheese & that it does smell sometimes, she gets them everytime she has to take a antibiotic, go to the doctor.
