Falling Angel, Broken Wings

i guess they could never call me an angel
And I never had wings that would grow
But these burdens they place on my back
Have taken me down to the bottom

Always wanted to be good and do the things I should
But I never quite came close
I was the black sheep, every familY has to have one
And I was the black sheep of mine

Tried so hard to make it happen
But hopes don't make dreams come true
I got all tangled at the bottom
And never made it to the top

Fallen angels, broken wings
If I could have been an angel, would I have failed there too
More than likely, for my chances were not good
Never made it to the surface and I never left t he ground

All the rest have wonderful traits
Always doing what they should
But I ran into trouble and could not stop my fall
Falling faster, falling to the ground

I guess I hurt a lot of people in this life I've lead
Never meant to do it on purpose
But I did it all the same
And I lost everything somewhere along the way

So I'm not a fallen angel, nor do I have broken wings
I'm just a throwback, that sometimes happens by
And I lost it all in the living
And trying oh so hard

So forgive me if you can
I you can't, I'll try and understand
Cause not everyone can be an angel
Even ones with broken wings

I try harder, but it never seems to work
I just make more trouble
A lot more than Im worth
And I'm not a falling angel, even one with broken wings.

This is an amazing poem. It expresses the all too well commonly known anguish of the family member that fell short. This poem touches my heart with this individuals honesty of pain, suffering. Often times, the black sheep has been told of its own incompetence and lack of value throughout life, and while is unaware of what is happening actually lives out its subconscious message. The black sheep is also often a pure soul who wears the sins of others, who fail to face those sins in one self and project these onto the blacksheep, while the others outwardly appear upright.

Never heard.

But it sounds like this person is trying to live up to other people expectations and has failed.
