I agree with the poster above, try to come up with an interesting fact about TJ, then weave that into your intro while at the same time introducing what's to come. Try to pick a fact that you could use at the end to close and summarize in the same way.

Your intro should be a brief summary of each paragraph to follow. Basically, this will introduce to the reader what they will be reading about.

Your conclusion should do almost the same, summarizing what has Jefferson's inauguration consisted of.

As the saying goes..."Tell them what you're going to tell them, tell them, then tell them what you've told them." An intro paragraph should address the audience and tell them what your essay is going to be about - it should get the reader excited and intreigued with what you will right next. As for the conclusion, just sum it all up - maybe tell about the impact or implications of your essay. Good luck!

The introduction paragraph needs to be just that, an introdcution to the body of your essay. And the conclusion, well it just sums up your essay. : ) Good luck!

basic essay format:
paragraph 1:main statement on what you intend to discuss, three or four main topics (theme sentences) you're going to go over
paragraph 2:first theme sentence. four or 5 supporting detail sentences
paragraph 3:repeat para2 w/ new theme sentences and details
continue 'til all theme sentences are done
closing paragraph:repeat main statement with new words saying this is why it's your opinion (or fact, depending on your topic) the end
ALWAYS GOT ME AN A - THIS APPLIES TO ALL ESSAYS IN ANY CLASS!!

State your thesis (here, perhaps why you believe Jefferson was an important President or what happened at his inauguration that was unique). Then briefly summarize what is to follow.

You could tell a short, interesting story about Jefferson to grab your reader's attention.
