I think we will and get to around 4th in the conference, but I am a Sens fan.

I just don't see how the successful regular season team of last year can be so different this year. Although losing Chara and Havlat were major blows to us

I'm not optimistic. This team has lost it's chemistry and Alfreddson has lost his zing altogether.

I have Wade on my fantasy team and it pains me to consider dumping him--he should be world class!! But that's just it--he "should be", but at some point we may have to accept that this team is cursed---for whatever reason.

Chara is part of it, Hasek was a bit of a fiasco last year, I can't figure this one out.

Great question---as much as I don't think they will I wouldn't be totally shocked if they all of a sudden were on fire.

Time will tell...

They'll turn it around. The team has too much talent not to make the playoffs. But they don't have enough talent to win in the playoffs. They made some mistakes in who they traded and who they got. They needed a second line centre, but traded away Smolinski as part of the Havlat trade, probably the only guy on the team who could be a #2 centre. Now they're stuck.

They needed tough players, but only have Neil and McGratton, and lost Chara. McGratton is a throwback to old days of the goon. He plays about 2 minutes a game, and just to get into a fight. That doesn't help in close games or playoff games, so again, the Sens are stuck.

They needed a top goalie, but signed Gerber, a 32-year-old goalie who played in a total of 114 regular season games, less than two seasons worth. Why would you think an old player who is pretty much a backup except for last season (and then lost his job in the playoffs), could lead the team, and then sign up to a $3 million a year contract? And now they're stuck with him too.

Too many bad decisions. They'll turn it around and make the playoffs, but they shouldn't be considered a top team like in seasons past.

No.
Chara was too much to lose on defense....he ate up a ton of ice time and he actually changes the way that teams can play against him. He is very intimidating on the ice...I love watching his fights...he's got unbelievable strength and great balance (I'm sure it's due to his father's background).
With Redden going through tough times over the past year, that has been tough on the D-men as well....

Plus they get rid of Havlat...I love that guy...he always has the potential to score a Hat Trick...or....he may get a 10 game suspension for trying to kill somebody with his skate!
He is intense!

I too like the Sens, but they just don't look good right now....

They made the mistake of choosing Redden over Chara because Chara was the better defence man. Letting Havlat go and not getting a solid number one goalie, I can't understand why they would bother get Gerber, he could not lead the Hurricanes to a cup so how could he lead Ottawa to one.

Not a Sens fan, but I still think they are a contender. There top line is as good as anyones. Their Power Play can be Dangerous and they are fast. I like them to make the playoffs and make a run.

Regular season doesn't mean much. Playoffs is what counts, and lots of teams turn it around come playoff time. They have a good team and it's still early in the season.

they'll probably win enough games to sneak into the playoffs, but they will lose first round.

When you change coach and GM you will.
Murray is a joke and Muckler is senile.
