Maybe your question is more on how you responded to this gift, not so much the meaning of the gift. You mentioned the person brought you a "poor" gift. What does THAT mean? You say you are still happy, so this would stem from the fact that you knew he/she had little means to bring you something extravagant (not that you were expecting that, right?) and it meant more to you, probably, that he/she acknowledged your gift. That is a feeling responding to the friendship you and he/she has.

When you get older, gifts do not hold the same meaning to you because you pay more attention to the values presented outside of birthdays, age, etc. When you are celebrating life and a friend helps you celebrate that joy, that is the gift that becomes more important to you. Understanding that a person "intended well" means a lot to you because you understand their predicament and appreciate their thoughtfulness. This is very admirable of you. You're headed in the right direction in life. :)

I think that it really dosent matter that they are poor and bring you not such a great of a gift. It is the thought that they have from bringin you a gift and coming to ur party. Also that friends they dont have to bring yuo the present that you want because them just coming to ur party and showing that they care for u should be enough. And I am happy for u that you dident care that they brought u not so good of a gift.

depents on the person, if the birthday guy/girl is materialistic, no matter what you give, will proly not be happy. Now someone who just cares whether you show up, will find that a gift in itself.

No one just gives a gift unless they feel some sort of attraction or have feelings for that person.

the feeling is wat matters n not really the gift..gift is just sumthing materialistic..that ppl give each other so that everytime u see it u remember the feelings of the person towards u..not the price tag of the article....
