As a guy, I like flowers myself because they're asthetically-pleasing and decorate the house...but they're expensive and perish after only a few days. I realize that women appreciate any symbol of love or sentiment but aren't there other ways to express this? A bottle of wine, for example, lasts longer (especially if it's kept unopened) than a bouqet of roses does, and roses don't allow you to have fun and get drunk. =)

I agree on the point that the flowers die quickly , and I've asked my
husband to stop waisting money on then for a while .
How ever to most women it is THE one gesture that they see
coming from the heart . Oh and by the way some of us
can't drink . And chocolates make us fat .

Wine is not as sentimental as flowers. Flowers are just a simple expression of beauty. But it's personal. If your lady is a wine connoisseur (had to do spell check on that, btw, 2 s's not one!) then she might really adore a bottle of wine. But if not, she could see through your plot to get her drunk and have your way with her- depends on the woman whether she will dig this or not! I still think flowers are a safe bet no matter what.

Flowers are only good if there are other women around to make jealous. Seriously, if you send flowers to your girl's office or give them to her on a family occasion in front of everyone, then that is the best. It is just a tangible way of saying "you are special to me and I was thoughtful enough to make you feel special". It is sort of a symbol, a trophy. It's like how a guy really likes it if his woman gets all dressed up and beautiful for him. It makes him feel special and it's nicer when he can take her out and show her off to his friends or whoever. Similarly, with the flowers, it's something to show off and say to everyone, "I have the best guy ever!".

Jewellery is too expensive and food is too common. Flowers are a. good regular gift. I read a story about a couple both over 80 years old where the husband brought home flowers (often picked ones) every week for his wife. It's a 60+ year tradition for them. I thought it was adorable.

Most times guys know exactly what kind of flowers to send their girl and when You send your girl the flowers she loves she knows that you are paying attention and you do really love her, Enough to go out of your way to go buy flowers. We also love receiving them at work because that means you took more time out of your day to have them sent to us. It makes us feel special. Gives us something to look at and every time we do it makes us think of the wonderful man who sent them to us. When you are sent flowers at work you don't usually need the wine to end up having a good night... If you know that i mean.

=I love receiving flowers anytime, even if they were picked from my own yard...even Dandelions. It shows someone is thinking of you. I have even given men flowers before and they get so blown away!
