my current job is planning to hire a security for more money than im getting. ( marketing associate) i hold an entry level job even though im still in my last year of school. is it fair that just because i dont have a degree yet, im paid less? is this normal in the business world? honestly? im doing work that requires a degree, but i dont have one but its the SAME work. do i deserve to get more money or should i keep my mouth shut until i graduate?

My advice, hold in there til you get your degree. Its common for people to get paid less until you get your degree. Once you have it look for another job and try to get an offer and then take the offer back to your company and tell them you are thinking of leaving. Hopefully if they want you to stay theyll give you more money or if not, then leave if the other job is better.

Sorry to tell you, but that is the way the world works buddy. In your case since you are only entry level the the kind of money you are making now is what is expected at entry level. You are just coming into the business and you are in the learning phase, yeah I agree with you it is the same work. But most entry level positions about really require a degree and ones that do require one don't mean that you can't get the job as long as you have the require skills you can get in the door. But when you have a degree and skills you get more respect and you are seen as a professional at what you do. If you had a degree and no skills you will still start off at entry level and at entry level pay. I think you should wait until you graduate to ask for an raise in pay, that is how the world works the higher the degree the more you can demand, but for now demanding a raise won't be a good idea until you graduate and then ask for want you want and how you feel you deserve to get it. Most likely you will get an promotion along with that raise.

Unfortunately, that's the way it works...but don't worry--you are almost done with school so a bigger pay check is definately in your future! :)
