Get yourself a good pair of snow boots - and keep the nice sheepskin boots for the fireside. If you're in the snow, good boots will keep your feet dry but they will still be cold. Sheep skin boots aren't waterproof because they are basically inside out - the fleece is water-resistent but the hide retains water. They do feel wonderful next to a nice warm fire after playing in the snow all day....

You sound like you don't live near snow - you may find people have discarded their snow boots at a local thrift shop and can purchase them there cheaply. You can also expect to find them where you are traveling to - and again, thrift shops often have them.

Enjoy your trip!
