Here is my plan for Iraq. I was against the war at the very beginning, but became a supporter shortly thereafter. Now I'm tired of the US getting a bad name for what the militias there are doing to the civillian population.

My solution is called operation "You got one month." We give every militia one month to lay there arms down or we go after and kill every single terrorist we find, even those in prison.

Enough already you damn Iraqi militamen!

It would be a good idea, exept that the iraqi terrorists won't even listen to that idea.
Or you'll have to bargain for it and that's rougher.

Brilliant, absolutely brilliant. I wonder why no one thought of that before?

Oh, wait, could it possibly be because we have been trying to do basically what you suggest for three years now and it hasn't exactly been working?

The problem is that there are not a fixed number of insurgents/terrorists. Let's say that at this very moment there are 20,000. Now let's say that in one month we could kill every single one of those 20,000. Do you think that there won't be at least an equal number who would rise up to take their place?

The problem is that most of the Iraqis want us out of Iraq. We can keep on killing Iraqis until Kingdom Come, but no matter how many we kill there will always be more Iraqis to kill.

In Vietnam we killed millions of Vietnamese, both North and South, and yet they just kept coming. That doesn't even count the hundreds of thousands who were killed by the French before us, and by the Japanese before that. The Vietnamese fought various invaders for more than thirty years before they finally succeeded in kicking the last of them out. We would do the same here if we were invaded. What makes you think the Iraqis would do any less? Or are you suggesting we just wipe out the whole country, sort of a "destroy the country in order to save it" approach?

Also, I'm curious as to why you opposed the war initially, but then became a supporter after it started. Was it because you saw how absolutely fabulously things were going and decided to jump on the bandwagon? Or maybe you're just one of those who thinks "Well, we're at war now, so I've got to support it, even if it's poorly conceived, poorly planned, and poorly executed" (before anybody calls me out here, I'm not talking about the grunts on the ground, I'm talking about the top brass and the civilians in charge).

I see 2 classes of action... the Bush administration is doing neither and there are virtually on an prevalent basis assaults that have killed hundreds only over the previous few months... is everyone naive adequate to call that good... course a million: accelerated martial regulation, extra troops to assist administration the insurgency... course 2: extra alongside the lines of what pelosi reported... with a timetable for withdraw.. at present we are sort of straddling the fence between the two... no longer in all probability cracking down on the insurgents... yet in addition no longer in all probability specializing in making waiting for an eventual withdraw... and it variety of feels that no longer something is getting finished...

Appoint a leader in that country - what, happened to the elections? who is the leader of Iraq? The country is confused because there isn't any leadership - the country is divided by Shites and Sunni's, Us Troops, terrorist - I think the country is
messed up. We need to take action with more troops, stronger malitia, take the bull by the horn and get out with the right leadership appointed by the UN until they can figure things out.

Aren't you already killing every 'terrorist' you can find, (or at least trying to), how do you intend to step up production?
How about large scale gas chambers, or give all the citizens a good ol USA nuking, bound to catch a few 'terrorists' among that lot.
Have you ever thought of joining the diplomatic corp?

I like this solution! How about an adendum though... Get enough troops over there and have surveilence going on and do a house by house search and detain anyone sneaking out. Grab everthing gun and explosive related. If someone has posession of more than one gun, impound the lot and cart them to jail. I leave one gun as a sign of respect as in those cultures if you are a man without a gun, you are not a man.

How about telling the Iraqis "you have 30 days to get off your chicken butts and do something for yourselves or you're on your own?"
