I get the same thing. I am 39 weeks and have had what you are describing since about 25 weeks along or so. Use Lanolin (I think thats how it is spelled). It works really great. It is designed just for that problem, so it won't clog your ducts or anything.

Don't worry about it. It will not interfere in anyway with the flow of the colostrum followed by the milk. I have a 4 month old baby. When I was pregnant with him earlier in the year, the same thing happened. I used to wash with warm-hot (bearable) water and towel brush the peeling skin away. You can massage some olive oil on your breasts to keep it moisturized. Even when you begin to feed your baby and end up with cracked ones or it hurts too much, olive oil is a good remedy. On your next doctor's visit, ask him/her what you could apply. They will prescribe an ointment, mostly Lanoline for that time when you are feeding. Take care. Enjoy your pregnancy and sleep and rest well. :-)

Buy some vitamin E capsules from the drug store and apply the gel from inside them. Or you can use lanolin, also available at the drug store. Neither one of these will clog your ducts. They are both also safe after the baby is born. Your baby is OK to ingest some that's left on your nipple from the last application. Also, after the baby starts nursing, allow your nipples to dry after each feeding before you apply the vitamins/lanolin. Good Luck!

Lansinoh brand Lanolin...its for breast feeding mothers...its the purest thing you can put on there to help!! It works wonders and you don't even have to clean it off before feeding...that's how pure it is. It is made of goat fat and cures nipple pain quick. Once you do start breast feeding keep it around in cause you get a slit in your nipples from the baby sucking to hard to much or too much moisture on them!!! Its so great

I wanted to breastfeed (but I didn't get to, unfortunately). All of my friends and family sent me creams for that. You can use petroleum jelly when not breastfeeding, or lanolin or you can use beeswax. Go to www.medela.com. They sell a product called Purelan. You can probably also find this or a similar product at Wal-Mart in the baby section near the baby feeding products.

lanolin or the brand name is lanisoh, it's a purple tube that you can buy in the baby section of walmart or kmart. You get a clogged duct in your milk ducts, anything you put on your nipples won't make you get clogged. I use that lanisoh on chapped lips and skin too, it's great!

Lansinoh lanolin cream.
It will help with dry, cracked or otherwise damaged nipples.
Once baby is here, it is safe to continue to use and doesn't need to be wiped off before nursing.

The best thing I ever found to put on mine when I had that problem was called "bag balm" and yes that is the real name. It is used on cow utters. It also works very well on diaper rash. You can buy it at Feed and Seed stores, I have also seen it at Walmart.

Wash them with warm water (no soap, it's drying) and air dry them. Then, rub some of your own milk on them. If, all else fails, try Lansinoh cream or Pure Lan nipple cream.
