Most people have a little of both, in most cases the higher the intelligence, the lower the EQ. in my case, my IQ is 178 but my EQ is still 140

Depends on which has the upper hand.
And 'emotional intelligence' is really an oxymoron.
In may experience I have found that emotions usually modulate (diminish) the actual intelligence, where in certain situations emotions will cancel out the intelligence totally.
That's why obviously intelligent people can appear to be total idiots in situations where their emotions are overpowering their judgment.

I think it's more important to be smart with your emotions than it is to be book smart. What good is it to be book smart when you can't keep your emotions in control, making a wreck of your personal life? My brother went to college. He's very intelligent, when it comes to electronics and works in a very high powered job creating new products for his company. But he sucks when it comes to having relationships with those around him. He approaches everything on an intellectual level, not considering the emotional side. He has very little compassion and no tolerance for errors. He's a very lonely man, because his kids all grew up and moved away, not wanting anything to do with him. Even his wife took another job, so she doesn't have to listen to his blather. He'd rather be right than listen to another opinion. Doesn't sound very intelligent to me. Of course, what do I know? I'm just a high school graduate who has lived a full life, and am surrounded with friends & loved ones. So, being smart about your emotions makes for wiser choices throughout your life. <*)))><

They're both one and the same... key word intelligence. Very important factor in life. Everyone is born with intelligence, they just don't utilize it. Learn to control your emotions and explain to your mind what's right and wrong, I believe that's true emotional intelligence.

Depends on the situation. Some jobs, like sales, are all about social/emotional intelligence. Other jobs, like researcher or writer, are more about straight intelligence.

Both are equally important. Because without emotional ingelligence you have few chances to be regarded as an intelligent person. There are a lot of books about this subject.

without a degree of emotional intelligence.....the general public would be a bunch of raving lunatics....so I vote for emotional intelligence as being more important

The importance of something depends on each individual. What I think is more important won't always be what someone else thinks. I don't feel there is a good answer for this questions.

If you'll decided for one of them and not for both, then you're not intelligent, no way possible. It depends on the situation you are.
