people watch infomercials so they will not have to think about the mediocrity they live in.

Because people are always looking for the easy way out, the next miracle cure the next big thing... It's all a new version of snake oil salesmen. If this stuff was any good wouldn't they be massed marketed and sold in every store?

My theory is that they must use some sort of subliminal advertising or hypnosis or something, or maybe it is because everyone would love to have the "next great gizmo" or because we are just curious and easily amused/amazed.
Either way, it is terrible when you get stuck watching one and you just can't wait to see the next thing they are going to do...
Now, the instant I find myself getting interested, I go to epinions.com and check out what the REAL story on a product is... usually breaks the hold the TV has on me at the time.

I watch then when i cant fall asleep at nite. sooner or later ill be bored enough to sleep

Some of us are addicted to them! I like to watch to see how well they are in be convincing enough to buy.
