Check first wether is is legal to keep a frog from the wild. In the UK it is illegal to take a frog from the wild or to keep one without a special
licence from DEFRA. This is the same with any native species of anphibian or reptile.

There are a lot of diffent kinds of frogs and every kind is spechial. Frogs can be wonderful and satisfying pets if properly cared for, but can also be a lot of work. Be careful selecting your frog, if you live in an area where frogs are prevelent consider catching a wild frog that you can release into the wild when you become board with the pet. When properly cared for some frogs live between 5-15 years! Never realease a frog that you buy at a pet store into the wild. Most frogs eat live crickes witch you can purchase at the pet store. Crickets are a noisey mess and will often drown when trying to drink so don't buy to many at one time. Your Frog will need a terairum contianing a heat rock adusted to the proper tempeture for your particular frog. All frogs need a place to swime or to soak or a pan of water, although some frogs do not swim and should not be foreced to do so. You should change your frog's water every day and clean out the dead crickets. Other frogs enjoy to be submerged at all times and will need a full tank of water. Frogs like to have hollow logs or other nooks and crannys to hide in. Your teririum should also have a secure top as they are likely to try to hop out. as long as your frog is warm, moist and fed it should be ok. But make sure to buy a book and or do some internett reserch on the kind of frog your going to buy. Good luck with your great new pet.

It really depends on what kind you want. There are frogs that need to be kept in a semi aquatic habitat( such as firebelly toads and leopard frogs). Different frogs get different sizes, therefore needing different space requirements. Some frogs like company, others will EAT other frogs( like pac man frogs). You really need to go to talk to a reputable pet shop and find out what you are wanting. If you want something that can tolerate some handling, you will not want to buy something that can't. First, find out what you want, have time for, money for, etc. then choose from what's available. :-)
