You should start a new mascara every 3-6 months, so if it's been longer than that, chances are there are bacteria growing in there anyway (bacteria like to grow in wet, dark places like this).
However, if it has not been longer than that, you should try a different kind (I suggest either marykay or revlon)
Hope this helps! :)

If its more than 3 months old, you need a new mascara. Never add anything to it and never keep it longer than 3 months. If it is dry and pretty new, I would take it back or get a different kind.

If it is dry, you just need to get another one. As already mentioned, don't add anything to mascara, it can lead to eye infections. That little mascara tube is the perfect breeding ground for germs.

Buy some new Mascara or put primer on your eyes before you apply the mascara and see if that helps! Hope this helps.

you should never add anything to mascara, it can lead to an eye infection and there's nothing pretty about that.
