Right click on your desktop, hover over "Arrange Icons by" and in the sub menu there is a option that says "Show Desktop Icons". Make sure there is a check mark next to it.

Go to Start and open any icon you wont on your desktop left click on the icon you want hold it down and drag it over to the desktop let it go. After you put all the icons on the desktop right click on a empty place on the desktop another window opens asking how to arrange icons by size by name what ever you choose

on XP that's a million. good click the computing gadget 2. set up Icons by ability of three. coach computing gadget Icons that's used for a tremendously humorous trick on your not so computing gadget savvy buddies. Take a screenshot of their computing gadget, use that image as their historic past and then conceal the icons. they are going to in no way verify why their icons do not artwork. :)

make sure show desktop icons is checked, if checked and still no icons make new shortcuts

Locate the .exe files of the programmes in question, right click on them and select `create shortcut'.. copy and paste these shortcuts on your desktop.. most of the programme folders can be found under c:\program files\
