Raising the minimum wage will not improve anyone's quality of life. Ohio just raised theirs. Know what happened? A huge nat'l pizza chain raised their pizza prices by $1 exactly, every single pizza. Increasing the minimum wage will do nothing. It's symptomatic of the democratic view. People look to the gov't to improve their lot in life instead of doing it on their own.
To achieve those things you mentioned, we need our manufacturing jobs back.

Minimum wage was going up anyway. There was already a bill in committee for that (even before the GOP got voted out). There's very little reason for them to leave it so low. A marriage license costs $25, so poor people have been able to get married for a long time. New houses are a bit out of reach for anyone on minumum wage, especially with the current market. If you've ever had to support yourself completely on minimum wage, you know that even a marginal improvement is drastic.

Yes, democrats will raise the minimum raise. There is a high chance that Bush will veto it, although politically that's just fuel to the fire of the democratic base for 2008. The lives of those who earn the minimum wage will improve. Now someone workign full time on the minimum wave is considered below the poverty level. If these workers are making more money they will then buy goods and services, stimulating the market. Also, many will no longer qualify for welfare. Overall, this is good for the economy as many states provide for minumum wage in excess of the proposed $7.00/hr and their state economies are doing fine.

Yes they will raise it. No, it will not be drastic enough to really make a difference. If I person is earning $10 an hour and gets a 20%raise and is now at $12 an hour, that figures out to another $80 a month, or $960 a year. BIg deal. It doesn't improve your credit score, it doesn't make it any easier to buy a house, hell, it doesn't even pay for a months rent in California, or books and a semester of college at a JC.

Simply put, Minimum wage increases cause cost push inflation, making the small increase in pay worthless because the cost of living increases as well.
HOWEVER-
Since the government will tax you on the LARGER AMOUNT YOU NOW MAKE they will get more of your absolute pay in taxes.
MEANING-
Your paycheck will increase, but so will the amount the government takes in taxes, as well as your cost of living.
That minimum wage hikes are basically revenue generating moves by the government that implements them, at the cost to businesses. The employee, caught between the small raise and the increased cost of living, doesn't get ahead at all.
ITS A SCAM.

I think that is high on the list of prioritys for the democratic party, however I wouldn't by the rings just yet to get married as it has to get by the president and his new found veto pen. Remember it will still be a minimum wage and it is stil barely a living.

when you consider that Wendy's gives you scientific wellbeing coverage to its workers, the minimum salary is $7.25 not $7.50 as you assert that's. If an corporation does not grant scientific wellbeing coverage then the salary is $8.25 The state’s minimum salary of $7.25 consistent with hour will proceed to be comparable to this is been when you consider that 2009, state hard artwork Commissioner Thoran Towler introduced on the instant. (April 1st, 2013) The minimum salary would be $8.25 an hour for workers not provided scientific coverage by ability of their employers. (not $8.50 such as you assert that's) you return on right here and you do not even comprehend what the wages are to be complaining approximately it

30 states have already raised the minimum wage, most over $6 per hour. The dems will raise it. It's inexcusable that the republicans have blocked it for years.

They'll try to raise it, and they may succeed, but I'm not convinced it will make much of a difference. It's about supply and demand. There will be less money in the budgets for employees, so either less people will be hired, or existing employees will get fewer/minimal raises.
