Have you put a volt meter from the ignition system. It sounds as if you may have a groung short either at the ignition switch or after the ignition switch at the distributor.

I would check the fuel pump and fuel filter. Sometimes If the filter gets clogged or you drive with a low tank it hurts the fuel pump so both should be changed at the same time. Also some fuel pump are loud. When you turn the key to "acc" where dash lights come on but not starting the car yet. You can open your gas cap and listen for a high pitch whine. you might have heard it before and not noticed. (mines really loud). My buds who had fuel pumps go out had the exact same problem. Especially whith the symptoms you described. ALso If you look at your gas tank and can see the motor for the pump, have someone start the car while you "gently" tap it with a hammer or something similar" if it starts then you've isolated to problem to the pump.

Had this problem with my boyfriends 1993 Nissan 240SX. Wiring harness was shorted out. This may or may not be your issue.
You don't mention replacing the spark plug wires.
Double check fuel. Can you hear the fuel pump priming? Get under the car, near the tank, and listen for a hum when the car is put in accessory. If you can't hear the fuel pump priming, you're not getting gas.
Have someone hold the key in the "Start" position and tap on the solenoid with a wrench. If it's the starter, sometimes this can get it to start. Take it out and have it tested.

The ignition switch is a good call.
Does the 'check engine' light come on when you turn the key on?
Have you checked for trouble codes with a paper clip?
Have you checked for 'key on' battery postive voltage to the coil?

i own a restoration keep and from what you mentioned approximately it ,this could be brought about by ability of a bad alternator on it that would have ran it down that low,the two that or she left something on ,yet that doesn't make the verify engine mild come on,its probably going to desire an alternator, you are able to take this off and have it checked previously you purchase one for it,this could be better than figuring out to purchase issues you're able to desire to not desire for it,have the alternator and the battery checked previously you purchase any factors for it,solid success i'm hoping this enables.
