I have a check I wrote out that I got a citation for in the state of Wisconsin. Can I just pay the fine and not appear in court? All it says on the citation is that an appearance is required, and I've had a speeding ticket before that has also said that but I never had to appear in court.

yes you must appear in court or have legal representation, in which case you can request the lawyer shows up for you and u don't need to. In Florida, it is a 3rd degree felony to write a worthless check. I forget right now, i think that is if its more than $100... if less, i'm not sure. Keep in mind, Florida laws may vary but thats my knowledge. Seek legal representation is the best move, if u ask me.

Call the issuing authority (listed on the citation) and find out.

You may be allowed to show up with cash or a certified check for the clerk during business hours. Or you may have to see the judge. Call the clerk and find out.

Make every effort to pay it. I did this some time ago. I paid all the necessary fees by a certain date & did not have to appear in court.

If it says you have to appear, you have to appear. If you don't appear, they can arrest you for contempt of court and you'll end up with even more fines and possible jail time.
