Do we have attorneys or nurses here?

My wife is a nurse that has a contract with an agency for 3 years..

But I am in another state and I wanted to Buy-out her so we can be together.. BUt if she wont finish the 3 year contract with them, she has to pay $20,000 upfront to them..

Pls note in the contract they mentioned breaching fee is one-half of their annual salary.

Is this legal amount? or is this too much?

If her salary is $40,000 a year then it is not. And it is in the contract she signed. So, you'll have to pay it or wait until the contract is up.
As a nurse I an sure she could get a job where you are with no problem and if she has been traveling or you have been to see each other then the price might be worth it.

Personally, Its too much for this. Agencies for modeling and acting buy me out too, but I usually get paid 30,000 a year just for like 5 photoshoots of 2 hours each. But, talk to a lawyer or something and get it straight. Good luck!

ask a lawyer but in my non legal opinion its actually not enough I'd say for a 3 year contract she should owe closer to 40-60,000 depending on how much she actually makes herself
