I have a Maxima GLE, 1997, V6 engine. The coolant is leaking. I wish to get the parts and replace the radiator myself. My mechanical skill level is average/ fair.

Per your request.

Step by step instructions with pictures on how to remove and replace the radiator on a 1997 Maxima

I would also recommend replacing the radiator hoses and the thermostat if you are going to replace the radiator.

It typically doesn't take a lot to remove the radiator, just use caution when puttin in the new one so you don't damage the fins.

Any questions feel free to e-mail me by clicking on my name on the left.

The timing belt? That is a good one! your car has two drive belts A/C alternator and powersteeering belt and camshafts water pump are driven with a chain. VQ 3.0 liter engines from 1995 have chain instead of belt cam drive. After market radatior 220 dollars at a radatior shop installed PS pressure hose nissan is about 200 and suction hose 35 dollars you can even do that one. Own a philips screwdriver? CV half shafts 2 boots each installed at axle place are about 200 each. Shop around You just happened to come along and the mechanic needs to make his car and house payment all with your car...

First, drive to a dealership
Second, tell the service mechanic to hook you up,(fix it)!
Third enjoy a good swim and some sun whilst the thing gets fixed
