Man in court over woman's murder
Shirley Finlay
Shirley Finlay's body was found in a car park
A 49-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of Shirley Finlay in Ballymena two months ago.

The partially-clothed body of the 24-year-old woman was found wrapped in a duvet in a car park on 19 September.

In court was Henrik Gorski, who has an address at Hill Street in Ballymena but is originally from Poland.

He has also been charged with raping another woman, indecently assaulting her and threatening to kill her. Mr Gorski spoke only to confirm his name.

He is accused of killing Miss Finlay between 17 and 20 September and attacking the other woman between 3 and 23 August and then again on 15 September.

A detective inspector told the court he had been interviewed 16 times and that he always denied the charges.

However, he said she believed she could connect him to the charges.

The accused was remanded in custody until 7 December.

I know they're nickng jobs off skilled British people (doing them for minimum wage when the skilled Brit is entitled to about £10 an hour - plumbers, builder mechanics etc).

This is why there are so many unemployed in this country. How anyone can say Poles are "giving something back" to this country is a joke. All they do is take take take. The only people who think that are already rich and comfortable and dont have to worry about work or money. They should try looking about them.

And taking what little is left of the social housing in this country which adds to the homelessness problem.

God know why we put up with it.

I do not understand your question, but if I take your sentiment and statement as a sample of this fine hospitality you are on about, then I can see that you need to sort out your own prejudices against a culture you obviously know nothing about.

The Question: "Look how the poles are repaying us for our hospitality?" has nothing to do with your content, but is in fact something you should do and not question... Why dont you try and look at how the Poles are repaying us for our hospitality, instead of generalizing every single one of them as some sort of emotionless killer.

What about the killers of Robert McCartney [1], what does that have to do with our hospitality and the poles? It merely goes to show that we are just as cruel and violent, if not more so than any other immigrant peoples, the situation in Ireland is much worse than any situation the Polish have ever been responsible for, but I guess a person with your mentality would find a way to blame it on someone else rather than look at the truth.

Life has not been easy in poland and I am not defending the individual, merely stating that he could have come from anywhere and that your question is highly irrelevant and mildly offencive.

Gomulka was one of Polands 'prime ministers' in a way, and I think it is worth point out this piece of history [2] "Gomulka resisted imports, especially of grain and animal feed, thus two bad harvests (1969 and 1970) inevitably led to severe meat shortages. A sudden increase in the price of food in December 1970 led to riots in the Baltic cities; Gdansk, Gdynia and Szczecin, which were repressed with great bloodshed. The fighting spread to other cities on the coast and the whole area had to be sealed off by the army. On 19 December an emergency meeting of the Politburo replaced Gomulka (who had suffered a stroke) with Edward Gierek, who managed to calm down the situation by preventing the price rises and promising reforms. Gomulka died of cancer (1982)."

it may in some way shed some light on your ignorance and give you a clue as to what Poland is like today.

Yes, well, o.k. I can see you want everyone to agree with you. The thing is, one person and what he or she does, doesn't reflect on a nation. There are murderers and rapists and thugs in every society and every culture and every country.
Calm down; the guy should be deported. But take a look at other similar crimes in the past few years ... were they all committed by Poles? By any other foreigners? You'll probably see that 90% of them were committed by native, local lads.
A crime is a crime, and it reflects on all of us. You can't escape from that by saying only foreigners do it.

The sick git should get what he deserves, but to blame this on all Poles is daft. If our workshy would get of their collective ar-es there would not be the amount immigrants in the country.
5 million unemployed, someones having a laugh. I dont expect its the Poles they are to busy working.

Just coz one Polish guy was a bit of a ****, it means nothing about Polish people! They're all individuals, just like you and me, idiot. You can't go around saying 'Polish people, so ungrateful' just coz one guy might have killed some people. You wouldn't expect people to judge you if some British psycho went to work in France for a couple of months and killed someone there would you? So shut up - if you have something to say about Polish migrants to this country, then at least try and make it intelligent.

An awful lot of white male Anglo Saxon Brits are doing the same thing.
An awful lot of descendants of immigrants are doing the same thing
An awful lot of immigrants and visitors are doing the same thing

The human race is a mess

Do not show your racism so easily!!

He deserves what's coming to him, but it's unfair to say all Poles are the same, I live next door to a Polish family and they're fine.

I take your point about letting in immigrants, but please remember that many Poles currently living in the UK came here under very different circumstances. They came here to fight with British troops in World War II. They fought to preserve the freedom that you have to speak your mind. As we approach Armistice Day, please take a second (maybe even 120 of them) to spare a thought for those who stood (and flew) alongside us in the pursuit of freedom. Tarring a whole nation with the same brush does nobody any good.

A dreadful crime but hardly sufficient to generalise about Polish people ? My experience is that Pole's are hardworking, courteous and play an important role in our society........
