I recommend go to start>run and type msconfig the click OK. Cursor over to the startup tab and decheck anything you don't need starting up. Keep stuff like Norton (or from symantec).

also download MS bootvis. It has can graph your boot times and shows you what's causing delays. But what makes it so popular is that it can optimize boot speeds by defraging everything that startsup to the begining of your disk so your hard drive don't need to spend more time then it has to.

If all else fails, backup and repost another question on "How to I reformat my hard drive and reinstall Windows XP"

Working with a slow computer can be time consuming as programs/ applications take a long time to start. This problem is more pronounced in computers which have been used for 6 or more months. More information at http://fixit.in/slowcomputer.html

first clean up your computer. you can right-click on the hard drive under my computer and choose properties. then you click on disk cleanup. make sure you select everything. you might want to try defraging your pc too. once that is done, uninstall any programs you don't use anymore by going to the control panel and clicking add/remove programs. also delete your cookies, history, and temp internet files through tools and internet options on your internet explorer. if your pc is still going too slow, you might want to look into purchasing some more ram. good luck!

I think it's the Norton anti virus. When i install i had the same problem. Then I switched to McAffe. It's good & more faster. Try shifting to McAffe.
