Do a lot of walking. At 36 weeks, I was 80% effaced and 3cm dialated. I walked over 1 hr each day after that check up. Three days later, my water broke and I was giving birth to my first child.

I've heard that you can do a number of things, I've never had to because I've been induced for all three of my pregnancies. You can eat spicy foods, you can walk, go for a ride in the car on a bumpy road (like gravel road or a road with pot holes), and have sex. If you go a few days to almost a week past, then you can ask the doctor (but he'll probably offer) to get induced. Good luck.

Ok this is personal, but it works. If you paly with your nipples, have your feet rubbed and have sex, prefferably doggie style, you should go into labor full blown. Don't worry too much though, your water will probably break in the next few days. But these things will DEFINATELY speed up the process. There are nerves in your nipples that your brain will realize it's time to feed. Well, your body will then respond with getting that baby out to feed it. Whether you want to breastfeed or not, it works. It's kind of like reverse phsychology for you body.

Ok, don't panic. I know there are a lot of ' old wives tales" floating around out there, but the only good advice I have ever really heard or been given is to walk. Walk as much as possible and as long as possible. Grant it, it never worked for me, but I delivered in under an hour.

Alot of walking my dear, when you walk it brings the baby down more and of course when that happens you become more dialated and eventually your water breaks. You will be that much closer to having your baby. Good luck and congratulations.

If there was one thing that actually worked, then doctors would sell it...that being said, some women swear by spicy food, sex, walking, etc. Breast stimulation is said to create contractions, but is not recommended. Nothing worked for me, the kid wasn't coming out until he was ready despite all my best efforts. But it doesn't hurt to try.

Try walking up and down stairs, or up and down a hill, I have had 2 babies, it works trust me, but if its your first baby it still may take a while before any results happen. WALK WALK WALK is the key it will really send you into labor
