Im looking for bridesmaid dresses. the thing is, i want to avoid the matchy-matchy, prom, stiff looking ones.
what i want is a 1950's inspired cocktail dress, with the wide ruched waist, cross-over on the bust, etc... just that classic look.

i am looking for burgundy or chocolate brown, whatever i can get. i found one in the latest issue of Town & Country Magazine that was PERFECT, but 2700 dollars!! no way!

where can i get this!!!! im thinking of a trip to NYC, but what other options??

Take the picture to a really good tailor and see if he/she can make it. Or, skip the typical bridesmaids salon and go to a dress shop or macy's and pick out something there and go with that. Have you gone into any bridal salons yet? Try looking at them in person and trying them on. Pictures are great, but you might find something different that you like better if you see it in person. Good luck.

If you are going to NYC, try Lazaro. They have BEAUTIFUL, vintage inspired bridesmaid dresses. Check out their online catalog, too. Good luck.

Jcrew, or jcrew.com
also, many vintage stores would actually sell them, so try and google vintage dresses, or go to poshgirlvintage.com
good luck
