It cannot ruin the SLIM because they worked the bugs out of it, on the older model PS2's that would have been true, playing DVD's was screwing up the laser(i dont know how but its the truth)

Although I dont know the exact answer to that I can say this. It makes no sense to why that would happen. Your PS2 has a CD drive, this CD drive is supossed to read DVD's, CD's, and PS games. All it is is a laser reading the discs. I dont see how this would affect the console in any way
