im a desperate child who took the shsat, my brother and sister took the test as well and got into a specialized skool. i feel that i did bad on the test and if i didnt get into one then my father will be extreamly ashamed of his youngest son. if it is possible, can anyone figure out the cutoff scores for all 8 skools? if you can then that would be great and i will be happy to vote as best answer

I took the SHSAT last year and I felt I did terrible too. I didn't even get to finish. But in February, when the results came in, I found out that I got into Stuy. Here is an approximation of the test results from my year (2005 SHSAT), plus a ten point increase because the cut off score tends to increase every year:
Stuyvesant : 570
Bronx Science: 550
Brooklyn Tech: 520
Lehman, Staten Island Tech, and York: 510 (these usually have about the same cutoff score, it really matters what order of preference you put them in)
HSMSE: 500
LaGuardia is a specialized school that doesn't need the shsat
Try your best not to worry, i wasted half the eighth grade worrying, and it didn't do me any good. You really only need to get 70% of the test right for stuy, and its really easy to get that, no matter how bad you think you did (i'm really, REALLY bad at math) I hope you put your real first choice first, because i wanted to go to bronx, put stuy first, and thats where i am now (its not bad at stuy, its just that i originally wanted to go to bronx science)
The cutoff scores are approximate, but i'm pretty sure they are within ten points.
Formula used: Last year's cutoff's + 10-15 points
Good luck! I'm sure you did okay. Enjoy your last year at middle school, specialized high school's are really tough.

i wanted Bronx technological know-how yet I have been given into Brooklyn Tech with a 491. i will Townsend Harris even with the undeniable fact that through fact I have been given in! Congrats to all and sundry that have been given in, i'm hoping you adult males are happy. And for those of you who did not, with any luck you will for the 10th grade SHSAT re-take!
