1. It's not wrong if you are very concerned your spouse is cheating.
2. If you are a parent you should be monitoring your kids online activity.

I can think of any other legit reasons to monitor someones PC.

If it's your boss and he bought the hardware, by law he can claim every bit of the work you did on that machine and he has the right to control, configure and monitor it.

If one is monitoring hardware owned by someone else, that's supposed to be against the law. Much like eavesdropping on a phone conversation.

Yes. Unless you have a warrant, there is no reason to monitor someone elses computer, unless they are a minor, then if you are the parent you should have the right.

well, we don't monitor actual computers but my husband and I have each other's passwords for everything, it's a trust issue, letting the other know we have nothing to hide.

That depends. For what reason? It is an invasion of privacy, but if you suspect your kid of having contact with a child predator, for instance, it can be justified.

if it is the goverment, no. if it is someone u daid they could do it then no. if it is soneone you don't know then yes
