Been offered a job temping close to my home, haven’t been looking for temp work but the agency think this will be good experience for me and promise that in the new year they will find me something permanent.

Anyway, i am currently on income support and to take this job would have to come off of it. Thing is the temp job is only until xmas and what happens in the new year if they cant find me work and I have no source of income??? Ive been out of work since last Xmas so whats stopping me being out for another year?!

Really don’t know what to do!?!?

you should take this job it may lead to something permanent also you can still look for other jobs while working there and you should also register with other agency i think it would be better to do temping work than no work it would look better for future employer good luck

Girl I am doing temp work now. Its a great job with good pay and the "promise of permanant employment". Too bad that the promise was broken and I'll be without a job soon. And I have experience and am really good at what I do. Temp agencies are a hassle.

Take the job if it offers you more money than you are getting on income support.

Being out of work also can affect your head, I know from experience the longer you are out of work and looking the worse you feel about yourself. Even working a short time will give you confidence, and you'll meet new people.

Keep in contact with the recruitment agency, keep them looking for you, go to other agencies, have them looking too.

If the job ends and you still find yourself with no work go onto income support again immediately, so you have money still coming in.

I work for a recruitment agency and you should only accept temp jobs if they are for a min of 3 months otherwise it does not give you enough time to find another temp position or something permanent

Take the temp work, it will boost your confidence in the job market, True the agencies are only looking after themselves, you can always sign back on at christmas time.

Don't take the employment agencies word for it, as they are unreliable. They are only concerned about fulfilling the job rather than you the client..They find someone else, plenty people out there looking for temp / perm jobs.

temp work is a very good way to earn money (even though the job might not be glamourous). It isn't all the time they have something for you, but keep calling weekly. something is bound to turn up. I would take it until something long term happens.

if a little extra income online and from home would help, I've done really well with http://www.mylot.com/?ref=nancygibson Basically its like here, but you get paid for answering questions, posting disucssions and pictures. Its hardly like work at all and I've found the extra money extremely useful. Just a thought in case its remotely of interest.
