When I stop, there is a horrible grinding noise. I'm thinking it's my brake pads? How much will it cost to fix this?

If you've gone metal to metal meaning you wore out your brake pads completely and now are grinding the back of the brake pads into the rotors, then it will cost you about $150 ($60 per rotor per side, $30 for the pads (approx)) if you do it yourself and probably about $300 if you take it in to have it serviced at a shop.

If you got your brakes checked early or they have not gone too bad and the shop is able to save one of your rotors or can machine the rotors and still be in spec, then it shouldn't cost you more than $100. If they can even salvage 1 rotor, it could save you the $60 cost of a rotor from my estimate above.

Take it to a shop immediately to see if anything good might still be salvageable.

You should have you brakes inspected ever year! Most shops will do it for free, and it can save you big $$$$.

do not pay more than $270 to do it cause they are super easy.... Yeah it does sound like your brake pads are done, you may want to have those replaced asap you are also going to have the rotors replaced as they may have been gouged out by the steel backing plate of the pad.. good luck
