I had installed win98. I add a mouse UMAX.Onevery start I have to reinstall it.How cant I solve without formatting the system. But I don't have the mouse driver software. But I when install through win98 It work until restart.

UMAX what version pls? windows 98 ok. first, is you installation successful? at first ok, before plugged the mouse, then if already installed properly and saved to computer memory then u can use it. if not installed well, it will keep on suggesting reinstallation. or maybe the installation wasnt saved to the memory and is only temporary and suggested when mouse UMAX is to be used. third, register your UMAX online to be validated if the one you purchased was a genuine one.
and lastly, have heard my friend had a windows98 and had a UMAX but wasnt used at all, they were not compatible at all.
when did you bought the mouse? then return it as soon as possible, it is better to buy in exchange the USB mouse battery free, no wires needed just directly to usb drives and no installation needed, to be used right away.

upgrade theoperating system. My guess is that the mouse is on a USB connection, guess what, 98 doesn't "like" usb. When 98 came out USB was fairly new and therefore support for USB devices was just barely included in windows 98 so thats why you have to reinstall it. You could try using a usb to ps2 adapter or if the mouse is already connected that way the it may be a problem with the driver you are using. Check the manufacturers website for the windows 98 driver for your mouse. If there isn't one than you are SOL
