Your cycle depends on your length of days from the first day of your period until you start your period in the following month. You usually ovulate fourteen days after the first day of your period. The egg is viable for THREE days. Sperm is also viable after ejaculation ( if it has happened while he is inside you) for two days. The fertilization happens in your tubes and then takes a week to get to your uterus. Then you may have some implantation bleeding. This is sometimes confused with your period because of the time it takes for the fertilized egg to travel from your tube to your uterus. The age of the egg has nothing to do with fertility. The whole age 35 thing has to do with the amount of eggs a women produces in her cycle. I'm sorry for the long explanation but some people are not very educated about these matters.

24 days is the most, but I've read that it can be up to 48.

Sperm can live in a woman's body for up to 4 days. So keeping that in mind, if you want to get pregnant, it's a plus to have intercourse days before ovulation and maybe a few more days after.

An egg will not die. It's the sperm that dies. Unless you're over 50 and has stop getting your period, then you are still able to conceive. Of course, this doesn't include any health issues between the female and male.

It will live in there for half of the time that you're not on your period. Menstruation is the egg and all the tissue that formed "just in case" coming out.. then your period is over, 2 weeks later, a new egg comes out, gets ready to be fertilized, and if it is, it stays, if it isn't, then it dies and your period happens.
