It's about the pain he felt from the 1991 death of his 4-year-old son, Conor, who fell from a 53rd story window in his mother's New York City condominium. By all accounts, the death appeared to be simply a tragic accident, and Clapton was distraught for months afterwards.
Clapton does not play it anymore, as he played it to help get over the death of his son.

Tears in Heaven is a heartfelt ballad written and performed by Eric Clapton about pain he felt from the 1991 death of his 4-year-old son, Conor, who fell from a 53rd story window in his mother's New York City condominium. By all accounts, the death appeared to be simply a tragic accident, and Clapton was distraught for months afterwards.
Co-written by Clapton and Will Jennings, the song was initially featured on the soundtrack to the film Rush, and it won a Grammy for Song of the Year in 1993. It was also included on Clapton's Grammy award-winning album, Unplugged.

Not all the gospels were written by Jews. Luke was a gentile. The early Christians were not pagans who worshipped Jesus. The trinity was not made up yet. There were many false messiahs, so the early Christians were no different than any other gullible Jew who fell for the false messiahs claims. Christians are mostly pagans now, so if a Jew believes Jesus he is also a pagan. Jesus has nothing to do with Judaism, just like Buddha has nothing to do with Christianity. To believe Jesus is the messiah is to reject G-d since G-d made it clear in the Tanakh(old testament) who the messiah is and what he will do. Jesus did nothing, infact he dousnt even come close to fitting the description of the messiah. It even says in the gospel that Jesus broke the sabbath, insulted his mother and let a woman touch his legs. Pretty obvious he is not the messiah.

Eric's son fell from a high rise building, cos someone left the window open? how stupid is that?
he found writing the song helped him to reconcile his grief and come to terms with the possibility that eventually when he dies, they may meet in heaven, but will his son recognize him? i think the boys name was Connor? i may be wrong.
it is a fact that [as in this case] writing a song about the subject and how he felt, and immersing him-self in the medium he loves helped him to get through possibly the most traumatic of all parental dilemmas. as a parent my-self this scenario scares me to death.[no pun intended] no parent should have to bury their child.
PS, just because he believes in heaven does not make him a Christian, as other religions also believe in heaven. having said that, he might... you'd have to ask him
