How about this? Let's say Godzilla has Heterogametic properties. Since you normally need a male to fertalize the eggs and Godzilla appears to have babies without a male species then Godzilla must be of both genders male and female and can switch when needed.

Godzilla may be either/neither a male or female. If we look to nature earth worms are asexual and do not require a mate to reproduce.
