Of late in this country some Christians have begun to take offense at being asked to be respectful of non-Christians during the holiday season. As if being respectful of others is somehow not a Christian thing to do.

So can I offer a suggestion? Christians really have an opportunity to give of themselves, in a very Christian way, with every greeting they make during the holiday season. When they greet someone they know is a Christian, they can brighten that person's day by wishing them a Merry Christmas. And when they greet someone who either isn't a Christian or whose religion they do not know, they can brighten THEIR day by greeting them with a Happy Holidays, or a Season's Greetings, or even just a cheery Hello.

Being a Christian is all about giving of yourself for the good of others. What an easy and painless and Christian way to give of yourself than to sacrifice such a small, tiny little bit of your own desire to say Merry Christmas, for the sake of making others, who are all members of minority groups in this country, after all, feel more welcome, comfortable and at ease.

I have to believe that God would prefer that you go out of your way to make people feel comfortable and valued, even if you have to make a personal sacrifice of not saying a favorite phrase every time you would like to, rather than have you going out of your way to make minority groups feel uncomfortable, not valued, and not respected for who they are.

Don't you think?

Not here. Season's greetings, although we have one person who runs the entire gamut (merry Chirstmas, Happy hannukah, joyous Kwanzaa)

So what do you have to say?

"Festive greetings to you, what ever your tradition may be, or, never mind to you if you don't have any tradition, or, whatever...who can I connect you to?"
