had a red button on my first car. It was a Golf and the red button wasn't wired to anything. It was a cool square big red button that I was told not to touch when I first got the car. No one knew what its purpose ever was, but when I drove I'd pretend I was hitting turbo whenever I hit the button!

The Red ones are like Fire and Fire is pretty. So it is like a warning sign to people that they should prolly NOT push that button, but people tend to do the opposite, so they will push the Red button, because that makes things interesting.

Red has always signified alarm. It's the color of blood, and that usually causes alarm when you see it. It's an associative thing.
