Because the secular progressives want someone in the UN who will help make us more like socialist Europe and who will kiss UN butt at every opportunity. Clinton used our underfunded military as the UN's personal police force during his administration, and winked at UN scandals and abuses. Bush and Bolten won't do that, so Bolten has to go. Besides the dems are feeling their oats now and will do whatever they can to hurt Bush and his administration. (Look for lots of liberal judges to be appointed soon).

Bolten has a reputation of being a class A jerk, one congressman described him as a kiss up and kick down person. Even Republicans did not like him much or he would already be confirmed. So being a jerk Republican kind of decreases the chances the Dems will confirm him.

Go ahead give everyone bad ratings, but the facts are he is a politically INcorrect republican, and he is BOLD. That is what the UN needs. The UN needs to be out of the United States anyway. As well as the ACLU, just had to throw that in. ;-)

The Dems want someone who will kiss up to the countries who hate us and wimp out on every thing that comes before the UN.

"There may be good and sufficient reasons to abide by the provisions of a treaty, and in most cases one would expect to do so because of the mutuality of benefits that treaties provide, but not because the U.S. is "legally" obligated to do so." John Bolton
